Broad Objectives

The College of Nursing Sciences is research oriented, student centered and uffer a general services driven by principles and goal of the college as embodied in the following statements; vision, mission, objectives and core values, with the objectives to:-

  1. Contribute significantly to the overall academic, professional development of the students.
  2. Promote advancement in education and research in related clinical conditions.
  3. Impart to students, professional knowledge and skills needed for qualitative healthcare delivery.
  4. Foster national ideas through curriculum content implementation.
  5. Inculcate in students the ideas of lifelong learning in attaining proficiency and specialization.
  6. Produce professionally competent nurse practitioners who are involved with the sense of human worth, the value of hard work in the highly motivated transformation of human environment, and with the zeal and knack for national building through professional education.

Our Philosophy
  1. The philosophy of the College is derived from National Policy document on Nigerian Education (1981:7), curriculum from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and experiences from local environment. The College has a strong believe in acquisition of knowledge, discipline and efficient service delivery.
  2. The philosopy is grounded on educating the individual to develop sound intellectual and potentials to meet the biological, spiritual, social and psychological needs of man.
  3. This principle is guided by strong believe that efficiency of application of knowledge and skills in meeting the societal needs, acquisition of adaptive abilities and healthy personality development, depend on liberal and professional education.
  4. The College believes in liberal education which embraces the social science, natural science, humanities and other sphere of learning demands and experiences.
  5. The College also believes that creativity and research methods are instrumental to self and professional development as health is dynamic.

The College believes that:

  1. The essential purpose of Nursing is to achieve optimum health for individuals, families and the community. It takes cognizance of the importance of preservation of human dignity, integrity and individuality.
  2. Man is a biological, spiritual, social and psychological being, whose needs are inherent part of his nature and therefore is affected by factors within his environment.
  3. Health is a changing bio-psycho-social and spiritual level of wellness, which the client/ patient is assisted to maintain through the utilization of the Nursing process.
  4. Healthcare with emphasis on Primary Healthcare is fundamentally related to the availability, accessibility and affordability of both health and socio- economic resources, etc.
